Teacher training degree programs in Hamburg
Universität Hamburg launched 5 new bachelor’s degree programs in teacher training in Winter Semester 2020/21. Prospective students are welcome to apply during the application period. The new master’s degree programs in teacher training start in Winter Semester 2023/24.
Students enrolled in the 4 previous bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in teacher training (in German only) may complete their degree within a specified time period, see “Übergänge” (in German only).
Background information on the reform of teacher education in Hamburg (in German only)
The first phase of teacher training in Hamburg takes place at Universität Hamburg and four other universities (Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), the Hamburg University of Music and Drama (HfMT), Hamburg University of Fine Arts (HFBK), and Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW)). As collaborative partners, they offer different teacher training degree programs which consist of several degree components witin the selected field of teaching. These components cover the different academic and educational requirements of the diffent school types and school levels in the German educational system.
All teacher training degree programs in Hamburg require sufficient proficiency in German.
